Synthetic oil
Net Zero by 2050, A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector, published by the International Energy Agency in May 2021, defines synthetic oil as: ‘Low-carbon synthetic oil produced through Fischer Tropsch conversion or methanol synthesis from syngas, a mixture of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO).’
